Cotswolds home deliveries and takeaways

Cotswolds home deliveries and takeaways

If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I escaped London before lockdown officially started in the UK, and have been living with my in-laws in the Cotswolds for the past three months or so. The Cotswolds really is one of my favourite parts of the UK: I’ve written about the plethora of luxe hotels scattered across the area before - add endless rolling hills and honey-coloured cottages into the mix, and you’ll understand why I currently have no desire to return to the city any time soon.

The Cotswolds is also home to a high number of gourmet restaurants, pubs, and delis - whilst staying out here, we’ve all been experimenting a lot more in the kitchen, but have also witnessed a number of these local businesses pivot during COVID-19 to offer deliveries of fresh produce, and takeaways. Here are a few of the wonderful suppliers we’ve been supporting, some of which have kindly gifted us:

Daylesford

Famed farm shop and deli Daylesford are offering home deliveries from their organic farm: alongside seasonal boxes of fruit and veg, choose cheeses, meats from their butcher, and a range of baked goods and patisserie. They also have a huge selection of ‘larder’ options, ranging from jams, fresh pasta, tinned goods, (beans, tomatoes etc) and biscuits in case you’re running low on these essentials.

The Wheatsheaf Inn

Owned by The Lucky Onion, this restaurant with rooms is located in the sleepy town of Northleach, and is offering takeaway pizzas from Wednesday-Sunday, 5-9pm. Oliver and I have stayed overnight here before, and loved the cosy bedrooms - we also remember the breakfast being very tasty, so were keen to try their pizza offering. Expect generously sized pizzas with a variety of interesting toppings, ranging from tenderstem broccoli and Italian sausage, to Wiltshire ham and rocket. The Lucky Onion has a number of other restaurants scattered across The Cotswolds also offering a variety of takeaway options.

Choco Market

Choco Market is a service that usually connects local British suppliers with top restaurants in London, but during COVID-19 they have redirected their energy into home deliveries nationwide. They have paired up with Cotswold-based supplier The Cotswold Guy to offer an impressive range of fresh fruit and veg, meats, baked goods, and dairy delivered straight to your door.

The Bell Inn

Usually a gourmet pub with rooms (and one of my favourite restaurants in the Cotswolds!), The Bell Inn usually serves simple pub food with a sophisticated twist. Their takeaway menu currently offers tasty pizzas and a range of classics from their usual menu: their famed anchovy and chive flat bread for starters, as well as hearty mains such as beer battered fish and chips, and chicken Milanese.

Lynwood & Co

Specialty coffee shop Lynwood & Co has four branches across the Cotswolds, which have all recently reopened for takeaway. Aside from their coffee beans, they’re also offering delicious boxes of fresh fruit and veg for home delivery, as well as dairy products (eggs and milk), their home baked sourdough loaves, granola, and cakes, and even lasagna and mac ‘n’ cheese which you can warm up yourself.
