5 restaurants in London for date night
Candles, a hushed atmosphere, and most importantly, fantastic food: qualities I always look for when planning a dinner date in London. What with Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’ve rounded up 5 of my favourite restaurants for a romantic night out:
This neighbourhood spot located on Columbia Road has a daily changing menu featuring seasonal dishes inspired by Italy. Expect homemade pastas, sharing plates, and some meatier options, all served in a relaxed setting and accompanied by a seriously impressive wine list.
Bar Douro, London Bridge
Date nights are all about sharing plates, aren’t they? Everything on the menu at Bar Douro (my favourite spot for Portuguese food in London) is made for sharing, and I highly recommend the croquetes, Jerusalem artichokes, and octopus. Add to this, wines are sourced from Portugal’s Douro Valley and further afield, and of course, save room for their homemade pastel de nata to finish off the evening.
Fantastic food without the frills. Michelin-starred Lyle’s serves modern British cuisine in an industrial space just off Shoreditch High Street. Minimal interiors with a focus on seasonal and tasty dishes allow for a relaxed date night.
Kettner’s Townhouse, Soho
Expect classic British food in a hushed setting at this Soho House-owned property located in the beating heart of Soho. Marble tabletops, suited waiters, and plush velvet seating are all permanent fixtures here, so there’s definitely the opportunity to dress up (if you wanted to). After dinner, sojourn to the bar, and sink into one of the velvet armchairs to while away the evening.
